Hi Ray,

I just want to send you some photos and thank you for your help with this project. I did one restoration before this, but never started from just a leaking hulk like this one was.

This is a Polar Kraft 1448. We started with the idea of being able to both cast and troll, so the bench seats had to go; and reinstalling as much styro.' around the live-well and tackle lockers as possible. The floor is one sheet of .080 aluminum that I bent to match. Under the floor is 1 1/2" styro-foam (home center). The seat supports I machined from 3/4 alum. This was to get the seat pole receiver off the hull.

We then backed this up with 1/4 alum. plate. This setup is great because you can pull the seats out without any real obstacle left on the floor. The seats, lids, liners, and tackle storage are Tempress gear. This is where we spent the money and it was worth it. I made the transom plate from a section of 1/4 wall  4" square tubing. The exterior is polyurathane and we rolled it on, thick.

We did all this in the driveway in the hottest weather you can imagine. There were some days when neither one of us could think straight and unplanned modifications occurred, but the boat is well balanced and very stable. These photos were taken just before a shakedown at the river. Since then we've added rod storage, PVC trailer guide posts, and a trolling motor mounted depth finder that a friend gave me.

Thanks for the great book,

Mark
